Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called and about which you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses. (1 Timothy 6:12 ESV)
Fight the good fight. As a Christian, I am not called to not fight. Rather, I’m called to fight the GOOD fight, and that is the fight of faith. I am to wrestle with the motivations of my mind and desires of my soul, making them submit to the will of God that I might experience the joy and peace that comes from my relationship with God through Christ. I am to do this by faith, completely reliant upon the Holy Spirit who so passionately loves me and wants to help me. I am to grab on to the eternal life that I have been called to and about which I have made the good confession in front of others. I am to press on, to fight on.
And to think: I was called and invited to this eternal life. INVITED!!! The invitation was not earned. I am not worthy. But Christ’s invitation supersedes my unworthiness and his cross declares that he finds me worth it. Being invited shows the heart of the One sending out the invitation, that he wants me to be part of himself. He wants me.
I sit here this morning absolutely in awe of Jesus. This whole Christmas season brings to me emotions of eternal gratefulness and awestruck wonder as I sit and think on the One who dwells in unapproachable light coming to earth to rescue us.
You truly are awesome! You are amazing! “Joy to the World” because you came for us. Your coming to the world changed everything.
